Maryland and Washington D.C. Regional Programs

VisionWorkshops provides photography and writing programs for students in selected public schools throughout the region.

Crossing Borders workshops, Bates Middle School, Annapolis
During the 2006-2007 school year, a group of talented Bates Middle School ESOL students met for 15 weeks for a VisionWorkshops photography program. With cameras, pens and journals in hand, we encouraged these students to document their new lives here in Annapolis. We also asked them to recall their lifestyles before they crossed the border to the United States. What these photographs and writings reveal is the story of a new generation of young Americans who are a rich blend of two distinct cultures.

Annapolis Maritime Museum Workshop, Chesapeake Champions
VisionWorkshops is also developing programs in partnership with the Annapolis Maritime Museum. We’ll help reconnect inner city children to the environment and culture of the Chesapeake Bay through photography and writing workshops.
Workshops begin in Spring of 2008.

Our regional programs are funded in part by the Carol M. Jacobsohn Foundation, along with a grant from the City of Annapolis.
