National Geographic Photo Camp

National Geographic Photo Camp is a series of photography workshops for youth from underserved communities in the United States and abroad. In partnership with local newspapers and community organizations, Photo Camp inspires young people to explore their communities through the camera’s lens, and to share their vision through public presentations and exhibitions in ten locations per year. Photo Camp launched its first international programs in 2006, with workshops in Uganda and in 2007 in Oaxaca, Mexico.

The theme of our 2007 Photo Camp program explores issues of refugees and immigration. In 2008, we’ll document youth perspectives on environmental issues in the students’ communities.

Photo Camp is funded by the National Geographic Society’s Mission Programs, and cameras for the workshops have been generously donated by Olympus Imaging America.
